UPVC Replacement Door Handles
As time passes the handles on your doors will wear down and will require replacement. It is essential to be able to match the dimensions of the handles you have previously replaced when replacing them.
The three measurements you need to examine are the top screw position as well as the key hole and lever dimensions. Use the size guide to help you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever/lever handle is a modern-day door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This type door handle is offered in a variety of designs and finishes. A number of manufacturers make this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of tough materials and are perfect for doors with multiple points that require a strong design. The handles are inline and operate off the same spindle and screw fixings so they are easily installed on doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.
The spring lever design allows the handle to be positioned and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the quality of finish and performance over time. The sprung lever can be reduced to accommodate a wider range of locks. This is especially useful for doors with narrower frames, in which the cylinder is further back. A shortened lever can also be used for doors with latches that can be opened by the thumb located on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently than lever handles found on most doors. These handle types can either work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are typically used on UPVC double glazed doors. They come in many variations & styles.
The handles are available in various finishes, including White chrome and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with a high performance and durability for its intended use.
All UPVC handle lever pads come with a spindle, screws and can be installed on the uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres allow for a wider handle, which is typically an advantage when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. The levers for these handles have a spring, which solves the issue of door handles that sag out of the horizontal position when not in use.
When selecting the replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is often referred to as the "handle centre" or "cylinder centres and is an essential aspect to match the correct handles.
Once you have the correct PZ size, you'll have to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are of a appropriate shape to accommodate the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you need for your doors. These are typically rectangular or round in design with an internal lever as well as an external push pad.
The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads that we offer are sprung. This means they can be reverted to a horizontal state when not in use, rather than hanging and possibly being stuck in the frame. This keeps draughts out of the property. You will also find that the majority of UPVC lever pad handles are hand-operated, allowing you to install them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder case which then reveals pins which can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, allow them to rotate the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with both internal and external doors usually requiring different levels of security.
Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is essential; it is dependent on how your doors and handle are utilized. For instance, exterior doors require a higher security cylinder, while doors inside can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. In addition, some cylinders come with additional features which can enhance security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump features.
A euro cylinder needs to be properly measured to ensure it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn should there be one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place however when this isn't possible, you may remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon may be susceptible to attacks like snapping locks, so it is crucial that it's not too long.
The design of most newer cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to minimize the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This helps prevent attacks and keep your doors safe.
There are cylinders designed to resist snapping. This is an increasingly common method of attack on cylinders, which is where the break line of the lock is attacked by a tool that is specially designed to break off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is faster and more straightforward than gaining access through multipoint locks. It also leaves no evidence of a break-in, which can hinder the insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette is located in the base plate of the door handle. It provides a sprung solution to bring the multipoint lock handles to their resting position after use. There was a time when handles of this kind didn't have a spring built into them, and as a result, they can droop or drop when the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This component is the most effective way to address this issue. It also stops your upvc door from becoming stuck in the closed or open position since they are difficult to close manually.
The spring cassettes were made to be used with a spring multipoint lock. They won't work with handles that are not sprung and you'll need to cut a hole in the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please check the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes in the door handle backplate of various kinds of uPVC doors. They are supplied in a single unit. They feature a square cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
These spring cassettes are a great value-for-money way to fix the problem of your door handles that are sagging. They are simple to install and will extend the life span of your uPVC doors.
